What do you do in that place????

Well you can't read the sign very well but, this is where I work. Pregnancy Outreach Center of the Rolling Plains. So many people in my life, family and friends have no clue about what I do at this place I call the center. So I thought I would share. We serve a 100 mile radius of clients. We are not for just pregnant women, we help families, ANY family in need. Whether it be diapers, food, or clothing. How do we get all of these items? We receive no government assistance, all donations ( money or items) are made by great people like you reading this blog. So the next time you clean out a closet or kids room, keep us in mind. We accept, baby furniture, car seats, gently used clothing, diapers, cleaning supplies, anything a family can use.

Some other things we provide:
Counseling of all kids-including the gospel of Jesus
Parenting classes
Community referrals-maybe a young family doesn't know who to call to get assistance with other services. We help make that happen
Church referrals- We have someone in every church in Childress that will help if someone needs a ride to church and show them where to go.
Free pregnancy test- free to anyone no income level matters
Programs for community orgs. and area schools

All services are confidential and FREE to everyone. If you have question please give us a call, and we are in need of items, and volunteers(training provided)

I just wanted some of you to see and read a little bit about what we do here. I have been here since our doors opened in 2002, became a full time director of this ministry in 2004. God has always provided for us. Please pray for our center in your daily prayers. Happy Tuesday

Family

I am starting today to except my family the way they are. Kyle & I both have a few crazy ones in the bunch, but who are we to judge. I decided that from this moment on I was going to love family members where they are. Isn't that what Jesus commands us to do,Love? Sometimes it is hard and over the years feeling have been hurt and things have been said. But what can you do about the past? You can't change one thing about it. Why do we seem to stay so stuck in it? I am not going to air all my dirty family laundry on the world wide web but I will say, 2009 I will be, (not in order)

1. A better wife
2. A better daughter
3. A better sister
4. A better Christian
5. A better niece
6. A better mom
7. A Better friend
8. A better listener
9. A better Aunt
10. More understanding
11. Less Judgemental

Just to name a few. WOW a huge order to fill. So as your doing your New Years resolutions try a few off of my list.......2 more days til Christmas

I want all of you to try the recipes of the Pioneer Woman. I have a link to her blog on my sidebar. I just had a slice of her rum cake.....................be careful you can taste the rum. I have tried many of the recipes and have had success with them all. Good Luck. Cooking for my family feels so good.

Secrets

I am just about to bust. I love Christmas, and presents. I really enjoy giving. This year I shocked myself, I really don't want anything. (for those who know me ,I know your in shock right now). I am having more fun giving this time. I have a few secrets from Kyle and the boys. I can't wait to give them their presents and see their faces, which I promise to post pics of. I would go ahead and tell you but Kyle realized I was blogging again and he just might decide to read this one of all post. So SSSSHHHHHH don't tell. Have a great weekend.

Looking Back

I have read several blogs this morning and it seems we are all about on the same page. I too am reflecting on the year as we look back. It has been a busy one for all of us. My job and all that goes with it has exploded in any areas, and new opportunities. Kyle, working harder than ever at work, then trying the teaching gig for a semester at the college. Gerry working and changing jobs and gone from home alot with that. Matthew busy and he enter public school after 5 years at home with me home schooling. Our schedules have just changed and it is all different but also all good. We each are branching out.

Christmas for us is a time to get together with family and to really enjoy them. It sad we all tend to only do this one a year. I encourage you to take a look at Mary and Joseph and the sweet baby they were expecting, as you celebrate the meaning of Christmas. Merry Christmas to you all.

Worry???? Why do we do it?

I got this email today and I just had to share the words it had in it with all of you. As I struggled this week, this just made it all clear. We need not worry.

What to Do with Worries Tuesday, December 16, 2008 “God did not keep back his own Son, but he gave him for us. If God did this, won’t he freely give us everything else?”Romans 8:32 CEV

What do we do with…worries? Take your anxieties to the cross—literally. Next time you’re worried about your health or house or finances or flights, take a mental trip up the hill. Spend a few moments looking again at the pieces of passion.
Run your thumb over the tip of the spear. Balance a spike in the palm of your hand. Read the wooden sign written in your own language. And as you do, touch the velvet dirt, moist with the blood of God.
Blood he bled for you.
The spear he took for you.
The nails he felt for you.
The sign he left for you.
He did all this for you. Knowing this, knowing all he did for you there, don’t you think he’ll look out for you here?

13 Hours

Today causes me to reflect on my life, my family and my child. 17 years ago I was in labor with my first child for 13 hours. A scary time for me, I was, at the time a single mother having her first child. He weighted 10lbs. 11oz. 23 in. long. (HUGE) That scared feeling disappeared the minute I heard him cry.Today my first born turns 17.WOW..........As I reflect on those 17 years we are so have been so blessed by this child. He has grown into a fine, tall, large, hard working man. Sometimes I can't imagine the things I have let him do, then on the flip side the things he is able to do. He is alot like me in ways sometimes I dislike,(stubborn)but God has blessed us both with this young man and we are so thankful for him. If you haven't meet my son he is a big teddy bear(sometimes grizzle). Here's to our son, Happy 17th Birthday. I love you more than you will ever know. Have a great day................

New Start

After some time off and time to reflect, I created a new blog. I really felt I needed to blog everyday and it really took over all my free time. Now more organized and relaxed, I feel so much better when I blog. I will have to remember how to do all this again. If I had you on my list before and I don't get you on my new blog let me know. Have a great weekend. We are off to a great Christmas party.
